Hey kid.

You know it wasn't easy coming here in the first place. I didn't know what to do with you, and with you not being just like I remember. It was tough, and I have to admit, part of me wanted to run away, to find a way to go back. But you pulled me up, just like you usually do. I don't think you know that you have that kind of power over people, but you do. You can change things around you when you don't try to do it, and that's definitely something special.

Maybe we've been through some kind of hell, and maybe things haven't always been perfect, but I need you to know that I love you. I would do anything to protect you, to keep you safe and happy, and that's a fact. But you knew that already.

If I'm gone, don't take it out on anybody else. If I'm gone, you'll be fine. You're strong. And I'll always be with you, you know, inside your heart. Right? Hey, don't forget me.

If I'm gone, then I want you guys to know that I don't hold anything that happened against you. It's funny how sometimes some people see the best in every situation. I mean, call me a blind optimist if you want. I don't think it fits, but I'll take that over a lot of other things people might say.

So keep your heads up. Try to get along. I don't want things to fall apart without me.

I know it's probably a bad idea to say anything to you about much of anything. I'd probably look like an idiot. I thought on this for probably an hour, and all you're going to get is a couple of minutes of reading.

Thank you. Honestly. It's been nice to get away from things that are unfamiliar and to settle in with someone who doesn't think what I was doing was wrong, or questionable, or even remotely of importance beyond being my duty. You've never judged me, have you? And I can't thank you enough.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you've given me more time and respect than maybe I deserve. For a Spartan, you're pretty nice. Counters the rep we're all told about.
